Dr. Roper received his A.B. from Princeton University, an M.A. in Developmental Psychology from San Francisco State University, and both an M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University. He completed an internship in Clinical Psychology at Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center and the postdoctoral training program in psychotherapy and psychoanalysis at Adelphi University. He has also studied at the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy in New York and the Tavistock Clinic in London. From 1990-1991 Dr. Roper was a Visiting Fellow at The University of Melbourne in Australia. Dr. Roper was a member of the graduate faculty in the Department of Psychology at Penn State from 1994-2007. He left his position as Director of the Psychological Clinic and Associate Clinical Professor at Penn State in 2007 to return to private practice. He is licensed to practice psychology in Pennsylvania, and is a member of the American Psychological Association, a Fellow of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, and a past president of the Central Pennsylvania Psychological Association. Dr. Roper specializes in the treatment of mood problems, anxiety problems and relationship difficulties with adults, adolescents and couples.
