Summary of Qualifications

Dr. Clayton received his Ph.D.in Counseling Psychology from Penn State
University and, through the American Psychological Association, holds the Certificate of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol And Other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders. Dr. Clayton serves on the Pennsylvania Psychological Association’s Colleague Assistance Committee, and provides services to a number of professional monitoring programs. For over one and a half decades Dr. Clayton owned and operated an outpatient drug and alcohol agency (Lawrence T. Clayton and Counseling Associates, Inc.) licensed with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, contracted with Centre County as a D&A Outpatient Facility, and networked with Penn State University, local Employee Assistance Programs as well as primary managed care and chemical dependence systems in Pennsylvania. Separately, he was an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology at Penn State University and taught a graduate level (Master’s Degree) course in Drug and Alcohol Counseling at the University Park Campus in State College, PA. He is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA), the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), the National Association of Drug and Alcohol Counselors (NAADAC), and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH).

Dr. Clayton provides services as an individual practitioner, as a presenter of workshops and trainings, and as a consultant in the evaluation and treatment of substance use concerns.
